Differences between Yes/No and multiple-choice vocabulary tests:

The Yes/No vocabulary test has some methodological advantages compared with the commonly used multiple-choice test. To clarify nature of both tests, we conducted two surveys. Participants ranged from high school students to adults in their 60s. We examined relationships between these tests and reading activity, which is a major source learning. found an intermediary relationship: familiarity directly predicts known rates on test, rate correct answer Based this result, concluded that reflects “rough understanding meaning words,” initial learning effect reading. Thus, activities can be detected more sensitively by results also suggest “detailed words” precedes rough meaning.
